In 2016, 348 researchers from 50 countries worked at IIASA, 2,229\u00a0collaborators visited IIASA, and around 25%\u00a0of IIASA alumni were actively involved in the institute. Together, they made up a global research network of over\u00a03,500\u00a0scholars.<\/strong><\/p>\n

IIASA network<\/h2>\n

Visitors<\/strong>\u2002In 2016, a total of 2,299 associates and scholars visited IIASA for research and collaboration and to attend at IIASA-organized\u00a0events. Of those visitors, 1,933 were from member countries.<\/p>\n

Research network<\/strong>\u2002IIASA has a worldwide network of 3,500 scholars from around the world, who assist in research through collection, processing, and evaluation of local and regional data that are then integrated into IIASA models. IIASA has over 720 research partner institutions in national member countries and works with research funders, academic institutions, policymakers and individual researchers in national member organizations.<\/p>\n

Alpbach\u2013Laxenburg Group<\/strong>\u2002Founded by IIASA and the European Forum Alpbach, the group <\/a>continued its strategic partnership in 2016, bringing together some of the world\u2019s best minds from government, academia, business, civil society, and the arts. These science\u2011based, policy\u2011centered deliberations focused on the role of the private sector in achieving the sustainable development goals.<\/p>\n

Alumni Association<\/strong>\u2002IIASA has 3,910 alumni from 86 countries, 25% of whom are actively involved in the institute\u2019s scientific activities. The Alumni Association<\/a> aims to connect former staff with IIASA colleagues, providing numerous channel to support the institute and its\u00a0work.<\/p>\n

Meetings and events<\/strong>\u2002In 2016 IIASA scientists hosted or coordinated 92 events worldwide\u2014of which 64 were convened in Laxenburg. The events were attended by a total of 1,867 conference participants, with 1,575 from member countries.<\/p>\n
